James Bongiorni
James Bongiorni, 79, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., formerly Atlasburg, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022.
He was born January 13, 1943, in Washington, a son of Herman and Violet Saucer Bongiorni.
Mr. Bongiorni was a 1961 graduate of Union High School, Burgettstown
Jim was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Marine Corps from February 1964 to February 1967, with time spent in Vietnam. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Viet Nam Service Medal, RVN Medal and Expert Badge M-14 Rifle.
He was a retired member of Iron Workers Local #3 in Pittsburgh.
He belonged to the Byzantine Catholic Church and American Legion Post #643 in Avella.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Kolesar Bongiorni.
Private services were held Friday, March 18, in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342. Interment was in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, with full military rites accorded by the Honor Guard of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #191 in Canonsburg and the U.S. Marine Corps.
