James Arthur Glendenning, 78, of Canton Township, passed away Friday, March 18, 2022.

He was born August 26, 1943, in Taylorstown, a son of the late Randall and Ethel Iams Glendenning.

Mr. Glendenning was a member of Trinity Bible Fellowship and enjoyed reading the Bible and discussing the scriptures.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was very active in youth baseball. He played softball and baseball for several years and was drafted by minor league baseball. He also loved to go shopping.

James was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the 101st Airborne Division. He was a longtime member of the American Legion Post #175 in Washington.

On February 17, 1961, in Washington, he married Patricia Louise Eakin, who passed away June 7, 2010.

Surviving are three children, Donald Jay (Charl) Glendenning of Graysville, Michael (Jaime) Glendenning of Washington and Michelle (Richard) Gontas of Washington; and his significant other, Donna Oliverio of Washington.

Also surviving are a sister, Ethel (John “Red”) Molinaro of Washington; 11 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Cathy Glendenning; and two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Glendenning and Nellie Glendenning.

Deceased is a son, Jamie Glendenning; and brothers and sisters, John (Joyce) Glendenning, Harry Glendenning, Randall Glendenning, David Glendenning, Gerry (Harold) Pryor, Martha “Jeanie” (Chuck) Provance, Kathryn (Harold) Plants, Anna Marie Reese, Leona Glendenning; and two granddaughters, Nicole Finney and Leah Glendenning.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 24, in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 1290 Jefferson Avenue, Washington, where funeral services will be held at noon Friday, March 25, with the Rev. Sue Petritis officiating. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Cecil Township. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army and the American Legion Post #175 Honor Guard.
