Glenn Leroy Chivers
Glenn Leroy Chivers, 86, of Wellsburg, W.Va., died peacefully Thursday, May 5, 2022, in Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Wheeling, W.Va.
He was born April 15, 1936, in Springchurch, a son of the late James D. and Zula M. Mansfield Chivers.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia Chivers; five brothers, Russell, Thomas, Alfred, Kenneth Chivers and James Jack; and four sisters, Florence Ross, Dorothy Rosborough, Lois McCutcheon and Donna Chivers; and a niece, Linda Chivers.
Glenn went to Bethany High School. He was a member of the Community of Christ Church and the Masonic Lodge for 53 years. Glenn was also a member of the Wellsburg Park Board and was manager of the pool for several years.
He worked for Weirton Steel Corporation as a welder and worked for Brooke County Schools and Bethany College as their locksmith.
Glenn enjoyed coaching Wellsburg Little League Baseball for many years.
Glenn is survived by two children, James (Aileen) Chivers of Washington, Judy (Dan) Roeder of Short Creek, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Brandon, Jason, Joshua, Kristina; six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 8, in Mullenbach Funeral Home, 669 Main Street, Follansbee, WV 26037.
A celebration of life service will follow at 7 p.m. in Washington Presbyterian Church, 100 Humbert Lane, Washington, PA 15301, with Pastor Phil Amaismeier officiating.
A graveside service will be held privately Monday, May 9, with Pastor Angel Adams officiating at Parkview Memorial Gardens.
The Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Gardens will conduct Full Military Honors.
