James Denny Becker
James “Jim” Denny Becker, 71, of Washington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at the Washington Hospital, surrounded by his family.
He was born on March 6, 1951, in Washington, the son of the late J. Lawrence Becker and Sara Jane McKean Becker. James graduated from Washington High School in 1969, and attended Penn State University from 1969 until 1972.
He loved spending time with his family and friends. James was a TWA / American Airlines and All-Clad retiree.
He married Christina Becker on June 28, 1980. They met through mutual friends, Patti and Larry, and were each other’s lifelong soul mate. They were blessed with two children, Matthew and Stephen Becker.
James is survived by his wife, Christina; children, Matthew (Rachel) and Stephen (Katie); three beloved grandchildren, Jordyn, John James “JJ”, and Luke; brother, Thomas (Elizabeth) and sister-in-law, Mary Ellen; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents, J. Lawrence Becker and Sara Jane McKean Becker; and his brother, J. Robert Becker.
He will be especially remembered for being a great story teller, an avid skier and biker, and for his ability to tell a great joke. James was an enthusiastic sports fan and loved watching Wash High, Penn State, WVU and Pittsburgh Steeler football games.
He was a devoted and generous Christian man who will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him. James was affiliated with the Church of the Covenant and recently attended Mass at St. James Parish with his wife, Chris.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2022 in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Avenue, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Supervisor / Director, Holly Renay Warco, Director, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Park N. Crosier, Director.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
