Lois Ann Carson
Lois Ann Carson, 89, of Peoria, Ill., passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022.
She was born March 11, 1933 in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Andrew and Ann Mastic.
On November 19, 1955, she married William L. Carson at St. Patrick’s Church in Canonsburg. William passed away in January of 2022 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Surviving are two daughters, Alison Carson of Raleigh, N.C. and Wendy (John) Kirwan of Aldie, Va.; one granddaughter, Emma Kathryn Kirwan and a grandson, William Carson Kirwan; one sister, Mary Jo Pavlick of Pittsburgh and one brother, Andrew (Martha) Mastic of Springfield, Va.; three nieces and one nephew.
She was a graduate of Canonsburg High School in 1951 and Carnegie Mellon University in 1955. Lois took graduate credits at Washington and Jefferson College and later at Bradley University and Illinois Central College. She taught high school in Peters Township, PA (Canon-McMillan School Districts), Arlington Heights, Ill., and Peoria High School until her retirement in 1993.
Lois was a member of the Illinois Teachers of English, a lifetime member of Retired Teachers of Illinois, and an associate member of South Hills College Club in Mt. Lebanon. She was an avid knitter and loved playing golf: she was a member of the Willow Knolls Ladies Golf League and the Cancer Golf League. Lois was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Church in Peoria.
Her greatest legacy to her children and grandchildren were her many books. She loved reading and teaching, and she retired from a job she truly loved. Lois particularly relished all the positive feedback she received from students in her later years.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family service will be held at a later date.
