Charlotte Jean Popeck Haught
Charlotte Jean Popeck Haught, 89, of Washington, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2022, in the Washington Hospital, from Covid-related complications. She was born July 13, 1932, in Washington, to the late Charles (Josephine Zastawniak) Popeck of Washington, and the late Bertha Brosky of Carnegie.
After being abandoned by her birth mother at 10 days old, Charlotte was raised by her paternal grandparents, the late John and Josephine Popeck of Washington.
Charlotte was a graduate of Washington High School and worked at Brockway Glass Plant #7. She was a member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers.
On September 7, 1953, she married Arthur “Sonny” Haught, who passed away January 5, 1985.
Surviving are two daughters, Rhonda Haught Leech of Washington, and Sharon Haught Hoyes (John) McQuay of Valencia, Calif.; three grandchildren, Marissa Leech of Washington, Adam (Danielle) Leech of West Middletown and Matthew Haught of Orlando, Fla.; four great-grandchildren, Kayson, Killian and Keaton Leech, and Brynn Haught; daughter-in-law, Patricia Haught of Irwin; sister-in-law, Jane Popeck of Washington; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her husband, parents and grandparents, Charlotte was predeceased by her son, Gilbert Haught; her son-in-law, Richard Hoyes; and her brother, Edward “Mr. Po” Popeck.
A memorial gathering will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., the time of a memorial service, Monday, May 16, in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 1290 Jefferson Avenue, Washington, with the Rev. Mark Swoger officiating. Interment will be held in private in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory, alongside her husband.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Down Syndrome Association of Pittsburgh, 2211 Lesnett Road, Unit 12864, Pittsburgh, PA 15241.
