Ellen Traynor Purnell
Ellen Traynor Purnell passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 after a lengthy illness.
She was born November 18, 1943 in Youngstown, Ohio, to the late Arthur M. Traynor and Mary Loretta Nickle Traynor. She married Albert T. Purnell of Youngstown, Ohio, in 1968. She made her home in McMurray and Fort Myers, Fla..
Ellen was a graduate of Villa Maria High School in New Bedford, class of 1962. She graduated from Villa Maria College in Erie in 1966. She earned a Masters Degree of Dietetics from Case Western Reserve in 1968. Ellen was a 40 year member of the American Dietetics Association.
She worked in kidney dialysis for Fresenius Medical Care in Washington County for over 30 years. She provided dietetic counseling and help for many patients.
Ellen is survived by her husband, Albert; and daughter, Heather A. Purnell, of McMurray. Also a sister, Loretta Traynor, of Hudson, Ohio.
Preceding her in death are sisters, Kathleen Madden (Mr. Stuart), of East Northport, N.Y. and Mary Adelaide Traynor, of Cleveland, Ohio; and brothers, Arthur Traynor (Mrs. Judith MacKenzie), of Cape Coral, Fla. and Norman Traynor (Mrs. Kathleen Tyndall), of Boardman, Ohio. Ellen leaves 15 nieces and nephews.
Ellen was a member of Lone Pine Golf Club of Green Valley, and former President of Giant Oaks Garden Club, in McMurray.
She was a long time member of St. John XXIII Parish. Ellen enjoyed traveling, gardening, golfing, and reading. She will be dearly missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. John XXIII Parish, St. Benedict the Abbott Church at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 16th. Interment will be private.
