Louis Robert Stewart Sr.

Louis Robert Stewart Sr., 93, of Muse, died Sunday, May 15, 2022, in Allegheny General Hospital.

He was born March 29, 1929, in Hendersonville, son of the late William and Anna Catola Stewart Sr.

Louis graduated from Midway High School in 1948. He then served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, Stationed in Germany. He played baseball for the Air Force, pitching a no hitter for the Blue Jays in Germany and bringing the whole team back to the U.S.A.. Louis also pitched in the minor leagues for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

He was a member of Coraopolis and Chartiers Beagle Clubs, winning many trophies through the years for his dogs.

He worked as a welder for Architectural Metals in Canonsburg, then retired as a journeyman welder from Magnitech in Pittsburgh.

Surviving are his wife, Loretta Walker Stewart of Muse; daughter, Pamela Hixon (Steven Wojcuich) of Houston; son, Louis (Bonnie) Stewart, Jr. of Muse; grandchildren, Heather (Christian) Sprung of North Hills, and Melissa Sowinski (Jason Kearns) of Muse; great-grandchildren, Daniel and Olivia Sprung; and a brother, William Stewart, Jr. of McDonald.

He was preceded in death by brother, Ridley Stewart.

Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2022, at the Coleman-Taylor Funeral Services, 3378 Millers Run Road, Cecil, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 20, with Pastor John Patterson officiating.

Interment will follow in the Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald, with full Military Honors accorded by the South Hills Honor Guard and the U.S. Air Force.
