Margaret “Margie” Thornhill, 82, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 21, 2022 at The Greenery Center for Rehab and Nursing.

She was born March 23, 1940 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Angelo Rosso and Theresa Uccellino Rosso D’Alessandro.

Margie lived in Canonsburg since 1985, and was a faithful member of St. Oscar Romero Parish, St. Patrick Church, and the Christian Mothers and Guild.

Prior to her retirement, she was an administrative assistant with the Pennsylvania State Police.

Margie enjoyed gardening and swimming; she adored her grandchildren.

On June 17, 1972, she married James E. Thornhill, who passed away April 27, 2019.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her children: William John (Marylyn) Thornhill of Pittsburgh, Mark John Thornhill (Mary Ann Zehr) of Pittsburgh, and Stacy Marie (Tim) Peterson of Champlin, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Faith A. and Luke A. Peterson; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Thornhill was the last of her immediate family. Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her siblings: Andrew and Edward D’Alessandro Sr., Virginia D’Alessandro and Dorothy McAleese.

Friends and family are welcome from 10:30 a.m. until 11:40 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2022, at Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, LFD, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where a departing prayer will be recited. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon in St. Oscar Romero Parish, St. Patrick Church, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg. A private interment for family will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery.
