Jan L. Melcher
Dr. Jan L. Melcher, 68 of Bentleyville, formerly of Reading, passed away Monday, May 23, 2022.
She was born September 27, 1953 in Reading, a daughter of the late Herbert R. Jr. and Lois Enders Melcher of Reading, who survives.
Jan graduated from Reading High School in 1971. She then went on to achieve an Undergraduate Degree from Penn State University, a Master’s Degree from the California University of Pennsylvania, and her PhD from West Virginia University in Counseling Psychology.
She was self-employed as a Counseling Psychologist, as well as a consultant for the Bureau of Disability Determination for the state of Pennsylvania.
Jan enjoyed gardening, photography and spending time at their cabin in St. George.
On December 24, 1974 she married her husband, Francis “Fran” Lenich who survives.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, is her mother, Lois Melcher; three brothers, Michael Melcher (Linda), William Melcher, and Gregory Melcher (Lorie) all of Reading; several nieces, and nephews.
Preceding her in death is her father, Herbert R. Melcher Jr.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2022, in the Greenlee’s Bentleyville Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville, PA 15314.
Additional visitation will be held at Sanders Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 1501 North 11th Street, Reading, PA 19604, from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 2nd, the time of services. Interment will be held in Forest Hills Memorial Park in Reading.
