Raymond Lee “Butch” Wright Jr., 74, of Eighty Four, died Tuesday, May 24, 2022, peacefully at home, with his children by his side. He was born June 24, 1947, in Washington, a son of the late Raymond Lee Wright Sr., and Mary Katherine Spease Wright.

He worked at Universal Stainless and Alloy Products. He was Protestant by Faith. Butch loved old cars. He enjoyed working on them as well as drawing them. He also liked to weld and tinker in the garage. Butch enjoyed driving around with his friend looking for cars and eating lunch at Laverne’s. He enjoyed the outdoors and sitting on his porch. Above all he loved his children and grandchildren.

On October 24, 1994, he married Opal Loar Wright, who died in February 2021.

He is survived by daughter, Tonia Casterline; son, Michael Wright; stepdaughters, Sandy Church and Sharon (Ronald) Keener; stepsons, Bill Malarkey and Paul Malarkey; sisters, Bonnie Dolan and Wanda Boardley; brothers, Dave Wright and John Wright; three grandchildren, James Casterline, Jason Casterline and Jessica Thomas; six great-grandchildren, Alex, Jeremiah, Jeffrey, Jacob, Ja’lynn and Travis; along with stepgrandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased in addition to his wife are his parents; an infant brother, Roy Wright; stepdaughter-in-law, Robin Malarkey.

Family and friends will be received from noon to 2 and 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, in the Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, with Pastor Rick Bruckner officiating. Entombment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
