Mary “Mae” Guiddy DeVuono, 87, of Slovan, passed away on Tuesday November 1, 2022 at Transitions Healthcare of Washington, PA.

Mae was born on April 4, 1935 in Washington. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thelma and Salvadore “Tony” Guiddy; her husband, Patsy DeVuono; her sister, Thelma (late Chuck) Duffey; and her brothers, James “Jimmy” (late Adrienne) Guiddy and Salvadore “Jr.” Guiddy.

A graduate of Union High School, she worked for many years as waitress for area restaurants.

Mae enjoyed “front porch sittin'” and visits from her family, friends and neighbors. She loved to laugh and make people laugh. She loved to tell and hear stories. She was rarely without a question to ask or a plate of food to offer you, even if you weren’t hungry. She loved watching her “soaps” and listening to country music. She was quite the cake decorator for years and baked beautiful birthday and wedding cakes. She loved gambling and finding treasures at Goodwill stores. She never forgot to send a birthday card because she always kept extra on hand. She loved hosting her family for holidays and she was the queen of half-priced candy after the holidays. No one to this day has replicated Christmas Day like the ones spent at “Mae Mae’s” house. She will be missed immensely, especially in this holiday season, but remembered in all of them to come as she’s left an impact on the way all of her family celebrates holidays in their own homes.

She is survived by her daughters, Toni (Dennis Ballinger) DeVuono of Daytona Beach Shores, Fla and Brenda (Brian) DeVuono Bentz of Imperial; grandchildren, Michael (Jenna) Serish, Cassi Ballinger, Leanne Bentz (fiance Dakota Dillon) and Nicholas Bentz; great-grandchildren, Elena Dillon and Finn Serish; sisters, Juliet “Cheech” (George) Tkalcevic and Rose (late Frank) Kencec and several nieces and nephews.

A Service to Celebrate her life is being planned for the spring.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Lee & Martin Funeral Home, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, PA 15021
