Maurice “Daryl” Barnhart, 64, of Whitakers, N.C., formerly of Claysville, passed peacefully, in Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount, N.C., Sunday, November 6, 2022. He was born February 8, 1958, in Washington.

Daryl was preceded in death by his father, Maurice “Barney” Barnhart.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 35 years, Elaine.

Also surviving are his mother, Goldie Barnhart of Claysville; son, Joseph (Jyoti) Barnhart of Houston; stepdaughter, Becky McChesney of Rocky Mount; grandson, LJ Leeper of Rocky Mount; brother, John Barnhart of West Finley; nephew, Zachary Barnhart of West Finley; niece, Amy (Timmy) Barnhart of Allentown; along with many cousins.

Daryl worked as an HVAC technician and electrician for most of his life.

Prior to health challenges he enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping, fishing, and woodworking.

No services will be held at this time. A Celebration of Life is being planned for the spring.
