Joann M. Dietz, 71, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Friday, November 11, 2022, in Country Meadows, with her loved ones by her side. She was born January 30, 1951, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Pete and Chestreria Martys Filius.

Joann lived her life in Canonsburg, where she had been a member of the former St. Genevieve Roman Catholic Church and St. Patrick Church of St. Oscar Romero Parish.

She was a graduate of Canon-McMillan Senior High School Class of 1968 and attended Robert Morris Junior College.

She was employed for 26 years with Room Full Express, retiring as office manager.

Joann liked visiting the Amish Country in Ohio and taking mother/ daughter trips to Lancaster. She just loved snow men. Joann loved to travel to Niagara Falls yearly since spending her honeymoon there and she was a kind and thoughtful person who never had a bad word for anyone.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, David Dietz; her beloved children, Cindy Dietz of Heidelberg and David Dietz Jr. of Bridgeville; sister-in-law, Virginia Walker (the late Jerry) of Canonsburg; her extended family, David and Joyce McKinney, Mike and Diane Rauch, Stephen and Kathy McKinney, Chris and Rita McKinney, John and DeAnna Barton; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Joann was the last of her immediate family.

Deceased is her brother, Donald Filius, and two brothers who died in infancy.

Family and friends are welcome from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, November 13, and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, November 14, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, November 17, in St. Patrick Church of St. Oscar Romero Parish, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.

In lieu of flowers, memorials, in Joann’s name, are suggested to the Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or to Diabetes Research.
