Florence E. Ward Such
Florence Elizabeth Ward Such, 88, went to be with her Lord Sunday, August 7, 2022.
She was born December 18, 1933, to Henry and Sadie Ward in Lone Pine, and spent her childhood years in Washington with her brothers, George and John Ward, and sister, Dorothy Caffrey (Ed).
In 1962, with her Scottie dog for company, the country girl drove over 2,400 miles across the United States, to start a new life in Torrance, Calif.
In February 1963, she would begin her career as a Torrance Police matron, where she would meet her future husband, Officer Robert Such. She retired in 1971 to devote herself to Bob and their family.
She is survived by her three children, Lisa Basile (Larry), Michael Such (Judy), and Patrick Such (Lisa); her three stepchildren, Bobbi Lynn Gander (Bob), Robyn Smith (Gavin), and Kristen Edmonds (Bill); 17 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service, in Green Hills Memorial Chapel, and interment were held August 15.
