Barbara J. Bable Yerkey
Barbara J. Bable Yerkey, 88, of McDonald, Cecil Township, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2022, in St. Clair Hospital.
Barbara was born February 13, 1934, in Midway, a daughter of the late James Lawrence and Helen S. Hartman Bable.
Mrs. Yerkey was truly a simple woman. She loved traveling to any flea markets she could find and snagging a good find was always what made the trip worthwhile. Barbara and her late husband, William, loved to go dancing whenever they could. Together they would run the dance floor and laugh the night away. Bill was the love of Barbara’s life and for the 65 years that they were blessed to be married their love grew stronger every day. Barbara and Bill created a beautiful family together and were fortunate enough to watch their grandkids grow up as well.
Mrs. Yerkey was a homemaker all her life, enjoyed tending to her family and did such a wonderful job, too. Barbara loved nothing more than being a mother and grandmother. Spending time with her children and grandchildren was always something that brought her so much joy. The laughter and smiles that were shared are something that Barbara’s family will cherish forever.
Surviving are her children, William C. Yerkey, Jr. and Matthew L. (Jennifer) Yerkey; daughter-in-law, Ellen Yerkey; grandchildren, Christopher, Lindsay, Alex, Kitera and Jeremy Yerkey; siblings, George (Jane) Bable, Dolores Bable and James Edward Bable.
Along with her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband, William C. Yerkey (2019); son, Christopher Yerkey; and sister, Elizabeth Elliehausen.
Friends and family will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, in Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc., 314 W. Lincoln Avenue, McDonald (724-926-2800), where a service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 23. Interment will follow at Robinson Run Cemetery.
