Edith Irene Vollstedt

Edith Irene Vollstedt, 73, passed away peacefully Friday, September 30, 2022, in Premier Washington Health System.

She was born January 1, 1950, in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., and was raised in Rudyard; she lived most of her life in Michigan until moving to Pennsylvania to be closer to her son and his family.

She was a woman of faith, even through the many challenges of her life.

Sisu is a Finnish word meaning extraordinary determination in the face of extreme adversity, and courage that is presented typically in situations where success is unlikely. Edith embodied this while raising two strong children. Her positivity and love will be missed.

Edith is preceded in death by her daughter, Gloria Lamma. She is survived by her sisters, Ingrid (Tom) Haeusler, Louise Knight, Lillian McBroom, and Helen (Rick) Zlotek; son, Daniel (Alia) Vollstedt; and son-in-law Mike Lamma; grandchildren, Maddy (Steve), Alex, Skylar, Kaylin, Ania, and Ferdi; and great-grand- son Ollie.

A mass will be held at 11 a.m. October 7 in Holy Trinity National Catholic Church at to celebrate her life.
