Edward Leroy Riggans, Jr.
Edward Leroy “Ed” Riggans, Jr., 72, of Washington, died Wednesday, October 19, 2022, in Washington Hospital.
He was born August 9, 1950, in Washington, a son of the late Edward Leroy Riggans, Sr., and Rosemarie Catherine Shaner Riggans.
A graduate of Washington High School, he was a retired mail carrier of the United States Postal Service. Mr. Riggans served his country in the Army, active duty, and 20 years in the Reserves.
Ed enjoyed fishing, camping, and playing on the computer. He was a volunteer firefighter for West Finley Township.
He was the father of six sons, Edward Leroy Riggans, III (Sabrina), Eric Riggans (Susan), Jason Riggans (Kimberly), Christopher Riggans, (Amy), and Jacob Riggans (fiancee Denise). He is also survived by a brother, Richard Riggans; and sisters, Ethel Colbert (the late Chuck), and Debra Colbert (Dennis); 11 grandchildren, Katherine, Ares, Athena, Apollo, Ryan, Eric Jr., Aiden, Colton, Aidan, Christian, and Shaler; three great-grandchildren, Jack, Riley, and Liam; and nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his son, Brian Riggans, who died January 17, 2022; and his brother, Scott Riggans, who died January 9, 2020.
Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, October 24, and from 10 to 12 p.m., the time of service, Tuesday, October 25, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.
Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help the family with funeral expenses.
Interment, with military honors, to be scheduled for a later date, in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
