Born August 10, 1923, in West Aliquippa, a daughter of the late Andrew and Frances Fatur Berlich.
She married the love of her life John Korody on May 1, 1946; they were married for 65 years. Their children and family were their treasures.
She enjoyed gardening and harvesting honey with her husband.
She wore many hats during her lifetime as a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a friend, and advocate for those who weren’t seen, and many more.
Part of her shared legacy with her husband John is having opened their hearts and home to over 300 foster children through Catholic Social Services of Canonsburg.
Following raising their family, Valerie enjoyed working in the children’s department at JC Penney’s.
Upon retirement, she enjoyed many trips to visit their loved ones in sunny Florida.
All were welcome to savor her delicious meals and sweet treats. Daily phone conversations and writing letters filled her days as she took this as her uplifting mission.
She lived out her final years in the loving attentive care of her daughter Karen, son-in-law John, and great-grandson, Austin, and her Amedysis Hospice nursing assistant team including Shellie Henderson, NA.
She is survived by her children, Richard (Jan) Korody, Karen (John) Mazza, Donald Korody, Michele (Don) Godwin, and her foster son Fred Kubalik.
