Katy Diakakis
Katy Diakakis, 88, of Canonsburg, died peacefully Friday, September 9, 2022.
She was born May 22, 1934, to Christos and Iakoumina Georges Hatzivalsami in Rhodes, Greece.
On April 18, 1958, in Athens, Greece, Katy married Anthony Diakakis of Canonsburg, where they began their life together.
Katy, was a devout member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church and a member of the Daughters of Penelope. She had a passion for helping others find their style while working at Cache’. She enjoyed preparing Greek delicacies, gardening, sewing, knitting and traveling.
Katy is survived by two daughters, Penelope “Penny” Casella and husband Larry of Mt. Lebanon, and Jacqueline “Jackie” Alberty of Canonsburg; her brother, Manio Hantzivalsamis of Rhodes, Greece; five grandchildren, Anthony and Nina Casella, and John, Anastasia and Gabrielle Alberty; and several nieces and nephews.
Katy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Anthony; and siblings, Marietta, Anthi, Smaro, Michael and Dimitri.
Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, with a Trisagion service at 7 p.m., in All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 601 W. McMurray Road, Canonsburg, PA 15317. Additional visitation in the church will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of funeral services, Thursday, September 15. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to All Saint’s Greek Orthodox Church, in Katy’s memory.
