Erica Jo MacBeth

Erica “Ricky” Jo MacBeth, 79, of Danville, Iowa, died Friday, September 9, 2022, in University of Iowa Hospitals. She was born September 24, 1942, in Mt. Lebanon, to Harold and Alice Marie Griffiths Sneden.
She was a graduate of Peters Township High School, Waynesburg College, and received her Master’s from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.
In 1974, she married James B. MacBeth in Waynesburg.
All of her life was devoted to public education. She taught second grade at Allison Elementary in Houston, then was librarian and media specialist for the Morning Sun and Winfield Mt. Union schools for four years, and retired after 24 years with the Burlington School District as librarian and media specialist.
She was a master gardener and loved their life on the farm; was an avid reader of mysteries; enjoyed writing letters; and loved her cats and dogs.
Survivors include her husband, James, of Danville; daughters, Lynn MacBeth of Pittsburgh and Sandra MacBeth of Phoenixville; sons, Bruce (Kim) MacBeth of Claysville, and Andrew (Angela) MacBeth of Eighty Four; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and her three younger brothers, Chris (Gail) Sneden of Austin, Texas, Michael (Laurie) Sneden of St. Louis, Mo., and Al (Daryll) Sneden of Richmond, Va.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The funeral service for Ricky was held at 3 p.m. Thursday, September 15, in Elliott Chapel, New London, Iowa, with Pastor David Mixon officiating. The family received friends beginning at 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Burge Cemetery, rural New London.
A memorial has been established for HJ Nugen Library in New London.
