Douglas Richard Sheets

Douglas Richard Sheets, 74, of Washington, died Thursday, September 15, 2022, in his home. He was born July 12, 1948, in Washington, a son of the late Paul Cornelius and Renetta Marion Andrews Sheets.

Doug was a 1968 graduate of Washington High School, and served in the United States Marine Corps.

He was an entrepreneur in the real estate management world.

Doug volunteered as a Freemason (Free & Accepted Masons), Washington Lodge #164, where he served his community for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Joppa Chapter of the Order of DeMolay. In addition to his Masonic work, Doug was a long-time member of the Washington Jaycees, served with the Washington County Republican Committee, the Joint Sign Committee, and with Downtown Washington.

Doug never stopped cheering for his beloved Dallas Cowboys, and he also was a life-long supporter of the West Virginia University Mountaineers, attending many sporting events and activities on the Morgantown campus.

Surviving are a brother, Paul C. (Beverly Anne) Sheets of Bellefonte; and a niece, Pam (Greg) Salokangas of Lemont. Doug is also survived by many, many cousins.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 30, in the Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, PA 15301. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. All other services are private.
