William Edward Cox

William Edward “Bill” Cox, 70, of Washington, died unexpectedly Sunday, September 25, 2022, in Canonsburg Hospital.

He was born July 29, 1952, in Washington, a son of the late Thomas E. Cox, Jr. and the late Ruth A. Woodburn Cox.

Bill was a 1971 graduate of Washington High School and went on to work as a custodian at Washington High School until his retirement at age 56. He then worked in the concessions department for the Washington Wild Things.

He loved animals and was an avid outdoorsman who cherished anytime he could get away into the mountains. Gatlinburg, Tenn., was a particularly fond destination for him. He was an avid bowler and loved going to Disney World.

He was a social member of the Washington Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 927, and was also a member of Washington Moose Lodge 22 and the Washington Fraternal Order of Eagles 4546.

Surviving are three sisters, Debby S. (Ronald D. Scott, Jr.) Scott of Navarre, Fla., Vickie L. Morris of Greensburg, and Donna M. (Fred) Bird of Washington; two nephews, Ray Moore and Andrew Scott; a niece, Jennifer Scott; and several great-nieces and nephews.

All services will be private.
