Laura Jane McMurray Thompson

Laura Jane McMurray Thompson passed away, quietly, on September 25, 2022, in Washington, Pennsylvania.

She was born on June 19, 1932, in Washington, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the Ray Wilson and Mary Emma Crawford McMurray.

Laura graduated from Washington High School, in 1950, attended Penn Commercial Business College, worked at Jessup Steel, and provided years of care to grandchildren, elderly neighbors and friends.

Laura’s first marriage was to Raymond Fisher and, in 1959, she married Ralph Thompson. They were together until his passing in June of 2007.

She was a long-standing member of the Church of the Covenant. Laura enjoyed her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and large family, socializing with friends at the American Legion Post 175 and the Washington Senior Citizens Center, shopping for fashionable clothing, and gift-giving. She loved to cook and regularly showed up at family events with confections to share. Laura was very fond of pets, especially her beloved dogs, Benji, Spike and Peaches.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Eunice Rae McMurray Collins, and a son, Brian Scott Thompson.

Surviving is a son, David L. Fisher, Jr., (former daughter-in-law, Teena); daughter, Brenda Sue Mastro (Jeffrey); son, Ralph Alan Thompson (Karma Edwards); daughter, Dawn Thompson; daughter-in-law, Kate Thompson; grandchildren, Raymond David Fisher (Jennifer), Jamie Fisher, Brandon Thompson (former daughter-in-law, Jessica), Amanda Thompson, Jade Edwards-Lovell, Loren Thompson, and Brian Scott Thompson’s surviving children, Ricky Thompson and Maggie Thompson; great-grandchildren, Raymond James Fisher, Jackson Fisher, Julia Mary Fisher, Declan Fisher, Sabrina Thompson, Brandon Thompson, II, Nick Thompson, Deyvion Oneal; great-great-grandchildren, Deontre Nalls Thompson and Tyr Edwards Lucas, and extended family and friends.

Family and friends will gather on Friday, September 30, 2022, with the viewing between 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., and a Celebration of Life starting at 1 p.m., at William G. Neal Funeral Home, 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, PA.

Interment will occur, immediately afterwards, at Forest Lawn Gardens, 3739 Washington Road, McMurray.
