Robert E. Anderson
Robert E. “Bob” Anderson, 72, of Washington, died Sunday, April 2, 2023, in the Washington Hospital.
He was born June 16, 1950, in Wheeling, a son of the late Donald L. Anderson and Helen Grager Anderson Bonar.
Bob was a 1968 graduate of McGuffey High School.
He worked as a truck driver for Camalloy and Brownlee Trucking.
Outside of his work, Bob was an extremely active member of the community. He served on the Avella School Board for over 20 years. He also served on the board of Western Area Career and Technology Center, formerly Vo Tech.
He was a member of Washington Community Theater and Old Schoolhouse Players for many years. Among his favorite roles were Tevye in “Fiddler on the Roof” and Ben Franklin in “1776”. He was also a “dancing dad” in several Chartiers-Houston High School musical productions. He was also a member of the Washington Festival Chorale.
Bob was an avid woodworker and car enthusiast, however, his greatest passion was spending time with his two grandsons.
On June 1, 1974, he married the love of his life, Joyce Hunter, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Kelly (Ali) Yalfani, of Towson, MD; two brothers, Charles Anderson of McMurray, and James (Anna) Anderson of Westerville, OH; a sister-in-law, Rebecca Anderson; and two grandsons, Alex Robert and Eric Hossein Yalfani.
Deceased are a brother, Donald Anderson, and a sister-in-law, Cynthia Anderson.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Hummell and Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Ave., Washington, Douglas M. Jones, supervisor, Dr, Lawrence K. Donovan, director, where services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 8, 2023. Friends and family attending visitation and services are encouraged to wear Bob’s favorite color green in his memory. All other services are private.
