Merrily Tomko Sobotka
Merrily Tomko Sobotka passed away quietly on Tuesday, July ll, 2023 at her home in Scottsdale, Arizona, surrounded by family.
Merrily was born June 3, 1942, in New Eagle daughter of the late Albert and Irene Tomko.
She moved to Arizona after graduating from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
She taught French and then got a masters degree and became a school counselor. After retiring from teaching Merrily became a trainer with Lions Quest
International managing workshops training teachers to deal with drug and alcohol prevention. Merrily was able to connect with people in a safe, open and caring way
She is survived by her sisters, Jean Sphar (Bob) and Anne Marie Paci (Attilio); sons, Doug (Alexa) and Drew (Amy); and grandchildren, Lexa, Ava and Kate; as well as stepsons Jeff (Denise) and Joel (Kristina) and their children.
Merrily also leaves behind countless crossword puzzles left undone, cookies and tea bags waiting for a hot cup of water..
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at the Finleyville Cemetery, 969 Venetia Road, Venetia, PA
