It is with great sadness that the Rathi family of San Tan Valley, Ariz., and Washington, announce the unexpected death of Brett Stephen Rathi at the age of 48.

He was born in Washington to Nancy and the late Robert Rathi. Brett was a 1993 graduate of Trinity High School and a 1998 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy.

Brett was a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend.

Brett is survived by Bonita, his beloved wife of 16 years; his son, Brandon (age 14); his daughter, Bentley (age 12); his mother, Nancy; and his sister, Barbara.

Brett was a kind and generous man who always put others before himself. He was a great listener and cared deeply for those he cherished. He enjoyed being just dad as he watched Brandon play football and baseball and Bentley riding horses in gymkhanas. He was the “Rocket Man” when he passed his level 3 certification in rocketry. He was a great golfer, poker player, and Kappa Psi Fraternity brother for life. He was a Pittsburgh sports fan at heart. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the time of service, Monday, August 28, in Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Brandon’s and Bentley’s education trusts.

Condolences may be expressed at www.piattandbarnhillfh.com. Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Directors, Inc., Charles R. Piatt, owner/supervisor, Andrew C. Piatt, director.
