Jean Thompson

Jean Thompson, formerly of Bethel Park, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 29, 2023.

She was born May 2, 1931 at Magee Women’s Hospital, Allegheny County.

She grew up in Gastonville, and lived many years in Bethel Park before moving to Ohio in 2012, to be near family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Noah and LcMae Parkins Thompson; and brother, Noah A Thompson.

She leaves behind her nieces, April Merritt and Tracey Webb and families; and sister-in-law, Mary Thompson.

Jean was an Executive Assistant for many years at PPG, Inc., in Pittsburgh. She was active in a Pittsburgh Women’s Business group, encouraging many young women into strong business positions while there.

When not working, she was also very active at Gastonville United Methodist Church, serving through music, and with the youth group and Sunday school! She loved United States, local and family history, and was involved with the Peters Creek Historical Society for many years. She eventually helped her dad write and publish a local history of Union Township.

She will be remembered for her generosity, love of antiques, old glass, decorating, marching bands and many other things, but most of all for her love for her family!
