Mary Jo Ross Castafero
Mary Jo Ross Castafero, 81, of Canonsburg, entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Wednesday, January 25, 2023.
She was born August 5, 1941, in Brockway. Mary Jo was the eldest daughter of the late Ralph F. Castafero and Frances L. Amatrone Castafero. Cherished mother of Lance Erdos (Lynn) of Upper St. Clair. Loving sister of Richard R. Castafero (Gail) of Springfield; Kathy Klemanski (Ed) of Farmington, Conn. and Jerry Castafero (Jeanne) of Radnor.
She was blessed to have three loving grandchildren (Grammie Jo), Heath, Brady and Colt Erdos who were the loves of her life.
Mrs. (Ross) Castafero was a teacher for 37 years in the Chartiers-Houston School District. She had a natural love for the elementary and middle school students assigned to her, constantly following their exploits through high school and beyond.
Her interests included European travel, multiple trips to the Jersey Shore and New England, Walt Disney World and many tailgates and football games at the University of Delaware. But her passion and love became her grandchildren. Cheering them on field for football games, in the gym during basketball games and in an arena for hockey games.
Mary Jo was a graduate of Ridgway High School in Elk County, and Indiana University of Pennsylvania, having earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education.
A viewing will be held at Saint Patrick Roman Catholic Church, her home parish, from 9:30 to 10 a.m. on February 21, 2023 followed by a Mass of Christian burial with entombment beside her parents at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
