Shirley Ann Cooper Hohnstein

Shirley Ann Cooper Hohnstein, 91, of Oakdale, passed away Sunday evening, February 12, 2023, in Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver.

She was born December 15, 1931, in McDonald, a daughter of the late Helen Heathcoat Cooper and William Cooper, Sr.

A 1949 graduate of the McDonald High School, she retired from Power Factor/Phase Guard in Carnegie, where she was a secretary.

Mrs. Hohnstein was a talented artist who enjoyed painting, especially flowers. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing and most of all spending time with her great-granddaughters.

Her husband, Myron Hohnstein, whom she married August 30, 1952, in Trinity Presbyterian Church, McDonald, passed away August 4, 2009.

She is survived by her two daughters, Susan Angel and Karen Williamson, both of Oakdale; granddaughters, Amber Hajos and husband Stephen, and Brandy Dandy and husband Aaron; her two beloved great-granddaughters, who affectionately called her “Gi Gi”, Lily and Emma Hajos; two sisters, Ada Moyers and Jackie Cooper; brothers, William, Jr., Gary and Robert Cooper; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are three brothers, George, Charles and Richard Cooper.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 17, in Nation Funeral Home, 218 East Lincoln Avenue, McDonald, PA 15057, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 18, with the Rev. Justin Amsler, of McDonald Presbyterian Church, officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald.
