Nick Stamatakis Jr.

The family of Nick Stamatakis Jr., of Catonsville, Md., sadly announce his passing Monday, February 13, 2023, from complications associated with kidney disease.

Born September 24, 1941, in Canonsburg, to Nicholas Stamatakis and Marsha Diakakis, Nick was the oldest of three sons.

He was a graduate of Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, and after working for Amoco Corporation, spent most of his working life owning and operating two Amoco gas stations in the Catonsville area.

He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Toni, who will cherish the daily joy he brought to their lives; three children, Nicholas III (Barbara), Carrie and William; two stepchildren, Tonia (Jim) and Alex (Holly); five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; and brothers, Manuel and Paul Stamatakis.

Nick will be remembered for his genuine care and empathy for those around him and his unique ability to listen, understand and speak with wisdom, and humor. His favorite pastime was golf and he was a Pittsburgh Steeler fan to the end.

If desired, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Alliance for Paired Kidney Donation, https://paireddonation.org.
