Olive E. Barney
Olive E. Barney, 90, of Scenery Hill, died peacefully Thursday, February 23, 2023, in her home, surrounded by loving family.
She was born September 18, 1932, in Washington, a daughter of the late Ray and Mary Conway Hatfield.
A graduate of Trinity High School, she was a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church.
Mrs. Barney worked as the secretary for the Washington County Fairgrounds for many years.
Olive enjoyed doing embroidery, crocheting, doing word search puzzles, and baking up delicious creations that her friends and family loved. A fun gal, who enjoyed spending time with friends, Olive loved sports, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, and was a member of the Eighty Four Senior Get Together Club. More than anything, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On October 7, 1952, she married the love of her life, Donard L. Barney, who died February 5, 2008.
Surviving are two sons, Danny Ray (Reta) Barney of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Dennis (Connie) Barney of Eighty Four; two daughters, Pamela (Joseph) Wright of Eighty Four and Cynthia (Daniel) Yanchak of Scenery Hill; a brother, Paul Hatfield of Washington; two sisters, Lucille (Bill) Longstreth of Washington and Brenda (Mike) Yanov of Bentleyville; 13 grandchildren, Brian (Ashley) Wright, Stacey (Michael) Massucci, Andrew (Lindsay) Wright, Courtney (Douglas) DiGiovanni, Kristin (Ryan) MacCartney, Derek (Crystal) Yanchak, Melynda (Jeremy) Ivcic, Nicholas (Diana) Barney, Michelle Crow, Tiffany Staggs, Katelyn Barney, Ted (Gillian) Parton, and Hallie Quick; and 20 great-grandchildren, Ava and Jaxon Massucci, Mason Wright, Gabriella and Rocco DiGiovanni, Harrison, Logan and Beckham MacCartney, Nicholas and Maleeya Yanchak, Max, Owen and Everlee Ivcic, Olivia Crow, Braedan Staggs, Connor and Emory Parton, Trey Quick, Lucas Pruskowski and Laken Allen.
Friends and family are welcome from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, February 27, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Tuesday, February 28, in Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, 200 Banetown Road, Amity, with Pastor Steven Ramey officiating.
Burial will follow in Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
