Clarence Earl “Buckshot” Richmond, 80, of Washington, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023, in Washington hospital after a very brief illness.

Mr. Richmond was born on October 25, 1942, to the late Clarence and Hazel Richmond on the family dairy farm just outside of Avella.

He made numerous memories in his family home; which he loved to tell stories about. He rode and performed with many horses and he remembered all of their names.

After Earl’s younger years, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Patrick Air Force Base, located just outside Satellite Beach, Florida. As part of his detail, he spent one year in Reykjavik, Iceland. He loved being stationed in Florida, and his daily five mile runs on the beach. It was a place he visited many times over the years with his family.

The Sunshine State was also where he met his wife of almost 58 years, Nancy Jo. Before he came home to Pennsylvania, he spent time as a city police officer for the Eau Gallie police Department.

Earl returned to his hometown of Washington and started a family. Shortly thereafter, he began his career at Overnite Transportation, where he worked for a total of 32 years as a city and over the road truck driver. During that time, he acquired the CB handle of “Buckshot”.

Earl also worked as an entrepreneur, operating a custom processing butcher shop, located at his residence. He worked hard all the way up to his passing.

Earl’s motto was “to give the man an honest days work for an honest days wage”.

In his later years, Earl enjoyed mowing lawns for his small customer base.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; sons, Spencer and Justin Richmond (Christa); daughter, Stefani Hunnell (Kenneth); sister, Phyllis Keltz (Johnny); brother, Bruce Richmond (Lorraine); grandchildren, Lindsey Hanna (Cody), Lukas Hunnell and Makenna Jean; two great-grandchildren, Easton and Waylon Hanna; also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins; and Patrick Waterkotte, a friend of the family.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, are three brothers, James (Donna) Richmond, Gerald (Betty) Richmond and David (Colleen) Richmond.

Mr. Richmond was a member of The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, in Washington.

Close friends and family will be received from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., the time of the Memorial Service, on Saturday, March 4, 2023, in Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc., 18 Campbell Street, Avella, PA 15312.
