Anna Frances Murgel, 100, of Canonsburg, died Wednesday, December 28, 2022, in her home.

She was born December 26, 1922, in Finleyville, a daughter of the late Nicholas Tilger and Josephine Jakovitch.

She was a member of Venice Presbyterian Church, former member of Cecil Ladies Auxiliary, SNPJ Club, Sygan. She enjoyed dancing, country music, and polkas.

Surviving are her daughters, Carol (Gary) Yagle and Kathy (Douglas) Schmitt, Sr., all of Canonsburg; grandsons, Doug (DJ) Schmitt, Jr. of Canonsburg, and Eric (Iona) Schmitt of Lancaster, Calif.; granddaughter, Kelly (Matt) Zemba of Canonsburg; great-grandsons, Finnick and Felix Zemba, Exe Dimacali-Schmitt; stepgrandson, Kevin Felix of Monessen; stepgreat- grandson, Cooper Felix; sisters, Eleanor Tilger of Washington and Dorothy Waters of Hickory.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Murgel, Jr. in 2002; brothers, Michael, Charles and James Tilger; sisters, Helen Dalbo, Pauline Hancq, Ethel Nagy, Edna Moss, Margaret Gabster; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 2, in Coleman-Taylor Funeral Services, 3378 Millers Run Road, Cecil. Viewing will continue from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of a funeral service, Tuesday, January 3, in Venice Presbyterian Church, 3694 Millers Run Road, McDonald.

Interment will follow in Venice Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to one’s favorite animal rescue charity.
