Joanne Ayres
Joanne Ayres, 84, of Washington, died Saturday, December 24, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born January 11, 1938 in Washington, a daughter of the late John and Nyla Paul Taylor.
Joanne was a homemaker who loved playing bingo and dancing; she especially loved to polka.
She was a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 927, Washington, as well as the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion, Washington.
On May 27, 1961 in Washington she married Kenneth E. Ayres, Sr. Mr. Ayres died September 27, 2008.
Surviving are six children, Kathryn Levkulich (Mark Bonanno) of Imperial, Kenneth Ayres, Jr. of Claysville, Bonnie (Richard) Renforth of Brave, Danny (Lea) Ayres of Imperial, Lisa (Bruce) Mayer of Langeloth and Raymond (Destinie) Ayres of Bentleyville; a brother, Donald (Jean) Taylor of Washington; 21 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a grandson, Wade Ryan Ayres; four brothers, Leroy, John Raymond and Paul Taylor, and a brother who died in infancy, Billy Taylor; three sisters, Elsie, Nyla and Betty, and a sister who died in infancy, Rebecca.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Hummell and Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where services will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 9 a.m. with Pastor Rick Bruckner officiating. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
