Lori Kris Matheson DeRosa
Lori Kris Matheson DeRosa, 59, of California, Pa., passed away peacefully on Monday, January 2, 2023, with her devoted family by her side.
She was born Friday, February 15, 1963, at Charleroi-Monessen Hospital, the daughter of Lillian M. Kurtz Matheson and the late James D. “Red” Matheson.
Lori was a 1981 graduate of California Area High School. She worked at Monongahela Country Club, where she met her late husband, Frank DeRosa. She then worked for his company, Dravosburg Truck Stop & Auto Repair as an office manager for 22 years.
She cherished animals, especially her rescued cats, and her dogs, Frankie and Harley.
She enjoyed hosting family gatherings and loved Christmastime. She made the holidays very memorable for all.
Lori adored her two nieces, Tara and Kala, and she treated them like her own daughters and always made them feel special.
She also liked home decorating and DIY projects.
Lori dedicated a lot of time taking care of her elderly mother and anyone that needed support.
Lori was preceded in death by her husband, Frank T. DeRosa, of Monongahela; her father, James D. Matheson, of California; and brother-in-law, Justin J. Kuvinka, of California.
Left to cherish her memory is her mother, Lillian Kurtz Matheson; sister, Sheryl Matheson; brother-in-law, Kenny Baird; and sister, Terri Kuvinka, all of California; two nieces, Tara Dieteman and her husband, Michael, of West Newton and niece, Kala Kuvinka, of California; her stepson, Al DeRosa and wife, Amy, of Monongahela; several step-grandchildren, cousins, family members and friends.
She will be remembered as a vibrant, caring, independent woman who was full of wisdom and selflessness. She will be loved and missed dearly as she was the backbone of her family.
