Mark Thomas Simala

Mark Thomas Simala, 51, of Wellsburg, W.Va., passed away Saturday, January 31, 2022, in Weirton Medical Center, Weirton, W.Va.

Mark was born April 2, 1971 in Charleroi, a son of the late Paul and Carol Davis Simala.

Mark was Catholic by faith. He worked for 22 years as a special agent with the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration in the State of Pennsylvania and was the commander of the Hancock Brooke Drug Task Force. He was a former member of Fraternal Order of Police (FOP).

Many will remember Mark for his love of hunting, fishing and sports, but most of all, for being an avid runner participating in marathons and his work with Easter Seals.

Mark is survived by his wife of 26 years, Joann Turner Simala of Wellsburg; four children, Taylor Simala of Pittsburgh, Kyle Simala of Wellsburg, Zach Sloneker and wife Ciara of Stockdale, and Loren Kunco of Pittsburgh; and a brother, Brad Simala and wife Kim of Washington.

Family and friends will be received from 12 to 2 and 5 to 7:30 p.m., the time of a funeral service, Saturday, January 7, in the JAMES FUNERAL HOME, Follansbee, W.Va. (304-527-1717), with the Reverend Benjamin Wright officiating.

Following the service, Mark will be cremated and taken home to remain with his wife and children.
