Pamela Jo Desmond
Pamela Jo Desmond, 66, of Claysville, passed suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, in Washington Hospital, after a brief illness.
She is preceded in death by her parents Beatrice “Betty” Rodgers Desmond and Joseph “Hank” Desmond; her husband, John Closser, sister, Elaine Bernard; brother-in-law, John Brogley; and nephew, Joel Desmond.
She is survived by her sons, grandchildren and great-grandchild, Nathan Closser, Sr. of Claysville (Nathan II, Johnathan, Justin and Karlie), and Jason Closser of Burgettstown (Shae (Olivia), Deedra, Ava and Noah). She is also survived by her siblings, Sally Brogley of East Finley, Joseph “Michael” (Betty Ann “Betsy”) Desmond of Claysville, Samuel (Cindy) Desmond of Claysville, and many nieces and nephews.
Pamela worked for decades at ARC of Washington, where she cared tirelessly for her beloved individuals with disabilities. In addition to her work at ARC, Pam was well-known and well-respected worldwide as one of the owners/breeders of Ann-Dees Bull Terriers. She, her mother, and sister, Elaine, produced champion bloodline Bull Terriers and were members of the Bull Terrier Club of America. She also had a life-long love of horses. Another passion of Pam’s was promoting the local heavy metal bands of the day, such as Vicious Cycle, Psycho Scream and the now infamous Mushroomhead.
She was also the writer and publisher of Out and About Magazine, and co-owner of Rust Belt Productions.
There will be no visitation or services at this time. Pamela will be cremated and buried with her family at Washington Cemetery on June 15, 2023.
