Patricia Ann Spillane Topper Robertson went to join her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Friday, December 30, 2022, passing peacefully in her home in Mt. Pleasant, S.C., surrounded by her children, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s.

Patricia was born September 18, 1940, in Washington. She graduated from Chartiers Houston High School in 1958, married and raised her children before pursuing a nursing career, having received her RN degree from Trident Technical College, North Charleston, S.C., at age 50.

She bestowed her gift of compassion for 20 years as a nurse and then as a volunteer for Hospice and Meals on Wheels.

Patricia was a member of Church of our Savior, John’s Island, S.C., where she sang in the choir. Traveling the world, playing golf and tennis, and making memories with her children and their families were among her greatest joys. Her home on Seabrook Island, S.C., was always open and welcome to all, whether for vacations, holidays or just a day at the beach.

Patricia was married to Ronald J. Topper, the father of her four children, for 27 years before marrying David M. Robertson, the love of her life. David gave her eight beautiful years and three loving stepchildren. She then enjoyed 16 wonderful years with her special friend, Edward C. Poole.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John E. and Golda M. Spillane; brother, John E. Spillane; husband, David M. Robertson; stepson, David A. Robertson; first husband, Ronald J. Topper; and Edward C. Poole, devoted friend.

Patricia is survived by her children, Dr. Steven M. Topper (Lora Beth) of Colorado Springs, Colo., Amy L. Atkinson of Canton, Ga., Pamela S. Gorman (Glenn) of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Douglas L. Topper of John’s Island, S.C., Duncan M. Robertson (Shirin) of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Pamela J. Robertson of Bellingham, Wash.; along with 14 loving grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Patricia’s celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 4, in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home, 27 North Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342.

In lieu of flowers, it was Patricia’s wish that donations be made to a charity of one’s choice.

A memorial message may be sent to the family by visiting the funeral home website at www.jhenrystuhr.com.
