Carl Ray Claypoole
Carl “Whistle” Ray Claypoole, 64, of Washington, died Sunday, December 18, 2022, in his sleep at Strabane Woods, following a lengthy battle with COPD and COVID complications.
He was born January 31, 1958, a son of the late Ruth Bullman and Gilbert Claypoole.
Carl is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Louise McCrerey-Claypoole; his daughter, Alyssa; and his parents, Ruth Bullman and Gilbert Claypoole. He is survived by his stepson, MAJ (Ret.) Dr. John (Donna) Walker; two grandchildren, Tanner, and Jack Walker of Aldie, VA; three brothers, Albert “Leroy” Claypoole, of East Brady; Ralph (Faye) Claypoole, of Petrolia, Gene (Marsha) Claypoole, of Butler; and sister Linda Attwell.
Carl served several years in the Pennsylvania National Guard, worked as a heavy equipment operator, and more recently as security/maintenance at Presbyterian Senior Care in Washington. He was known to his grandchildren as “Pappy” and was an excellent hunter and fisherman.
Friends and family will be received from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, January 13, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with formal service immediately following at 11 a.m.
