Dorothy Lee Opfer
Dorothy Lee Opfer, 76, of Washington, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 10, 2023, in her home. She was born May 1, 1946, in Homestead, a daughter of the late Orville F. and Dorothy M. Schmidt Herchelroth.
Mrs. Opfer was a graduate of Clairton High School and Robert Morris University. She was employed for many years as a project manager for BNY Mellon.
Mrs. Opfer was a member of the Church of the Covenant in Washington. She enjoyed quilting, camping and spending time with her family. Mrs. Opfer will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
On January 15, 1965, she married David F. Opfer, who survives.
Also surviving is a son, Dave (Chris) Opfer of Washington; a daughter, Stacey (Walt) Gesky of Washington; four grandchildren, D.J., Ethan, Ryan and Dylan; and her dog, “Max”. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her father and mother, Mrs. Opfer was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Cochran.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, January 14, in the Church of the Covenant, 267 E. Beau Street, Washington, PA 15301, with the Rev. Dr. William Younger officiating. Interment will be private in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Covenant.
