Donald Jacob Smerdel Jr.
Donald Jacob Smerdel Jr., 62, of Houston, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, January 25, 2023, in his home. He was born September 18, 1961, in Canonsburg, a son of the late Donald J. “Pepsi” Smerdel Sr., who passed away August 8, 2017, and Elizabeth Ragona Smerdel, who passed away September 1, 1997.
Don lived his entire life in Houston, where he was a graduate of Chartiers Houston High School, Class of 1979. He was a member of St. Patrick Church, St. Oscar Romero Parish and the Slovene National Benefit Society (SNPJ) Lodge 138 of Strabane.
Don had been employed for 36 years with Giant Eagle in Peters Township.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his brother, Scot Alan “Scooter” and wife Diane of Houston; and two nieces, Megan and Madison Smerdel.
Friends and family are welcome from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday, January 30, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra LFD, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, where a Catholic Blessing Service immediately follow at 7.
