Robert Joseph Haberlen Jr.
Robert Joseph “Joe” Haberlen Jr. passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2023, in his home in Jamestown. Joe was born February 26, 1942, to the late Robert “Bob” and Helen Haberlen in Greensburg.
After graduating from McGuffey High School in Claysville, Joe enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. While stationed in England, he married his loving wife, Christine and started a family.
In 1997, Joe retired as a senior manager for Verizon. In addition to his 30-year career, Joe had many affiliations including The Upper St. Clair Volunteer Fire Department, the Jaycees, and the Masons. He was a plural member of Eureka Masonic Lodge 290, Greenville and Lodge 408, Meadville. He was a former District Deputy Grand Master, an honor of which he was most proud.
A Nittany Lion fan, Joe was determined to earn a degree from Penn State University, which he did in 1993.
Joe’s hobbies included photography, listening to music, and woodworking.
Joe will be remembered fondly by his family, most notably for his comedic anecdotes and having a camera around his neck at every gathering.
Survivors include his wife, Christine; three children, Joseph Andrew Haberlen (Theresa), Jennifer Louise Spain (Brian), and Mark Christian Haberlen; five grandchildren, Julian, Marissa, Dominic, Matthew, and Nathan; two great-grandchildren, Brock and Charleigh; a brother, John Haberlen (Victoria); two sisters, Louise Carmichael (James) and Cynthia Joho (Jean); and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, February 2, in Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake. A Masonic service will commence at 3 p.m. followed by military honors.
