Rudy J. Venditti, 72, of Avella, passed away early Saturday morning, July 8, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on June 8, 1951, in Washington, son of the late Tony Rudy and Mary Patricia Mariani Venditti.

Rudy was a 1970 graduate of Avella High School, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during Vietnam.

He was a millwright welder and worked on the railroad at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, for over 40 years.

Rudy was a lifelong resident of Avella and was a member of St. Isidore the Farmer Parish (St. Michael Church), where he was usher; he also attended Holy Family Church in Steubenville, Ohio.

Rudy was always in good shape and could be seen running the country roads of Avella. In 2014 he ran the Pittsburgh marathon, and continued to run each year until 2022. He also ran in the Susan G. Komen Race for the cure.

He was a member of the Florida Ski Club and loved to cook, especially his homemade pasta, sauce and his homemade wine; he enjoyed riding his Harley, driving his jeep, skydiving and skiing.

After his retirement Rudy got his pilot’s license and loved to fly his Cessna 172 airplane.

Surviving are his three sisters, Toni (Jim) Morris of Bridgeville, Valencia (Terry) Walker of Seminole, Fla. and Mia (Tim) Daudet of Robinson Township; his niece, Andrea (Dino) DeFabbo; his three nephews, Jason (Jill) Morris, Josh Walker, Matt (Jackie) Walker; his great-niece and nephews, Isabella and Sam DeFabbo, Rudy Morris and Tyus Walker.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, is his niece, Nicole Morris.

Friends and family will be received from 1 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 13, in the Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc., 18 Campbell Street, Avella, PA 15312, where Rosary will be said at 3 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 14, in St. Michael Church, 97 Highland Avenue, Avella, with Reverend Harry Bielewicz officiating.

Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Avella.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Isidore the Farmer Church (specify to be used in St. Michael Church), 103 Church Road, Imperial, PA 15126 and Holy Family Church, 2608 Hollywood Blvd, Steubenville, OH 43952.
