James R. ” Toppy” Sollon, 79, of Bridgeville, died Sunday, July 9, 2023.

He was born May 16, 1944, in Canonsburg, a son of James and Betty Lou Young Sollon.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Prior to his retirement, Toppy worked as a machinist and builder.

Toppy was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Italian Club, and enjoyed bowling at the SNPJ and fishing.

Surviving are his son, Eric “Gabby” Drosick of Fort Worth, Texas; his daughters, Michele (James) Greer of Bulger, Melissa Sollon of Canonsburg, Danielle (Justin) Meader of Bridgeville; his sister, Sandy (Jack) Rodd of Washington; eight grandchildren, Amanda, Brandon, Chad, Jasmine, Jeremiah, Brayden, Devin and Kamryn; great-grandchild, Payton Joan; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, in Sollon Funeral and Cremation Services, LTD, 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, Phillip L. Sollon, supervisor, 724-746-1000.
