Earl Bryan Cale
Earl “Bryan” Cale, 100, of Washington, died Sunday, June 18, 2023, in Life Care Center of Collegedale, Tenn.
He was born April 12, 1923, in Amity, a son of the late Earl Curtis Cale and Isa Pearl Dunn.
Bryan was a faithful member of the Washington Seventh-day Adventist Church congregation. He was an avid Bible teacher, Elder, and served on church school and church board meetings. He served on the executive committee at Blue Mountain Academy, and was a Delegate at Large for the General Conference. He was a Delegate for the Columbia Union Conference. He was passionate about serving Jesus!
He was president of the Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC) in his community.
Bryan served in the United States Army, 44th division, during World War II as a rifleman and trained under General Patten.
He worked at Jessop Steel Company for 42 years as a molder, mechanic, and maintenance supervisor.
He loved gardening, bird watching, photography and travel. He traveled many years to Lake Wales, Fla. for the winter and loved to play shuffleboard and horseshoes with his friends. He won many medals during horseshoe tournaments.
He is survived by his wife of 79 years, Wilma J. Shrontz Cale, of Ooltewah, Tenn.; sister, Betty Thompson Weber of Eighty Four; son, Raymond E. Cale of Hamburg; daughter, Jane E. Mote of Collegedale, Tenn.; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet E. Cale.
A private family memorial service will be held Thursday, July 27, at Chattanooga National Cemetery, Chattanooga, Tenn.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Washington.
