Helen Mitchell Taggart went to be with her Lord and Saviour, on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, while a resident at Southmont of Presbyterian Senior Care.

Helen was born December 25, 1920, in Greene County to W. Scott and Bernzelle Mitchell.

She graduated from Waynesburg High School and Penn Commercial.

Helen then worked for Duncan Miller Glass in cost accounting.

Helen was active in Christian Workers and Christian Endeavor, where she met her love, Alex Taggart. They were married on August 27, 1943.

She was a member of Coal Center Presbyterian Church and later Independent Bible Presbyterian Church in McDonald.

Helen enjoyed Bible Study, reading, gardening and baking, but she loved being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

She is survived by sons, Jim (Judy), Joe (Barbara) and Jerry (Maureen); daughter, Jayne Silfee; and daughter-in-law, Amy; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anna Safstrom.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Alex; son, John; great-grandson, Connor; parents, W. Scott and Bernzelle Mitchell; sister, Mary Mitchell; and brother, Robert Mitchell.

Family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2023, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, followed by the service at noon.

Interment will follow in the Upper Buffalo Cemetery.
