Carissa M. Mallory
Elder Carissa M. Mallory, 75, of Washington, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, May 28, 2023, surrounded by her family.
She was born July 22, 1947, in Washington, a daughter of the late McKinley Keith and Cora M. Williams Johnson. She was a graduate of Washington High School.
Mrs. Mallory was a homemaker and also a home health aide. She was a faithful member of Legacy International Church and was the leader of Meet a Friend Children’s Ministry. Her faith and family were her life.
Mrs. Mallory was a mother and a grandmother to the entire community. She enjoyed cooking, painting, making jewelry, sewing and gardening. Mrs. Mallory was always willing to teach someone about God in order to increase their faith. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving are her husband of over 41 years, Carnell Mallory; three sons, Melvin Johnson, Hirunda Wallace and Dante (McKailee Darnley) Mallary; a daughter, Janell (Jospeh Crittendon) Mallory; two brothers, Vontanez Slayton and Theron Keith; 19 grandchildren: Malcolm, Zyan, Halaysia, Sara, Armani, Ashlynne, Lanya, Rashaia, Joriean, Tamera, Gabriela, Kacee, Trenton, Lillian, Carissa, Zarrah, Zoey, Mayzlee and Dante, Jr.; and seven great-grandchildren: Jahari, Zamir, Kristiana, Sienna, Bishop, Rooke and Onyx. A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Deceased in addition to her parents, is a sister, Helen JoAnne Pollard.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2023, at Life Church, 100 N. Main Street Washington, PA 15301. A funeral service will be held at the church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2023. Burial will be private.
