Peter Louis Castriota
Peter Louis Castriota, 90, of Canonsburg, passed away Friday, June 9, 2023, in the Donnell House in Washington, after a brief illness. He was born March 21, 1933, in Washington, a son of the late Louis Castriota and Teresa Bullotta Castriota.
Peter was a 1950 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School.
He served in the United States Army, was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175.
Peter spent his post-military career at Ball Glass until his retirement.
He enjoyed golfing, going to church, going to the gym, swimming, and grabbing the occasional cup of coffee with his buddies at Shorty’s.
Peter was a lifetime member of the Washington Elks Lodge and served as president of his homeowners association for 15 years, until just a few weeks ago after taking ill.
Peter was the consummate family man. His family meant everything to him. He enjoyed spending time with all of his grandchildren and attending his great- grandchildren’s extracurricular activities and sporting events.
On August 1, 1953, in Immaculate Conception Church, he married Janet Irene Pruce, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Cindy (Rick) Dorazio and Kathy (Jeff) Ames; four granddaughters, Kara (Chris) Logero, Jessica Ames, Jennifer (Nate) Thimons, Jill (Gaven) Verbosky; along with eight great-grandchildren, Nina and Rocco Logero, Presley, Noel and Mya Thimons, and Kane, Brody and Baz Verbosky.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Castriota, Sr.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 12, in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at E. Katherine Avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, owner/supervisor, S. Timothy Warco II, director, Holly Renay Warco, director, Park N. Crosier, director. A prayer service will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church, St. James Parish, 119 West Chestnut Street, Washington, with the Rev. Thomas Lewandowski as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray, where full military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175 and the United States Army.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are welcomed, in his memory, to Saint James Parish, 119 W. Chesnut Street, Washington, or Concordia Hospice of Washington, The Donnell House, 10 Leet Street, Washington.
