Madeleine Barbara Smalley

Madeleine Barbara Smalley, 94, passed away peacefully Friday morning, June 16, 2023, in the Concordia Hospice of Washington, Donnell House in Washington, after a long illness.
She was born December 25, 1928, at Washington Hospital in Washington, to John and Irene Makedonsky Mickoloff.
Madeleine graduated from West Bethlehem High School in 1947 and attended Penn Commercial College and Waynesburg College.
Madeleine was a lifelong resident of Marianna. During her youth, she was active in local organizations and proud of her Russian Orthodox heritage and the St. Nicholas Old Believers Church.
She was an avid gardener and took great pride in her flower garden and making her yard the pride of Marianna. Madeleine also enjoyed collecting antiques and dolls. She loved animals and took joy over the years from her terriers and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
Madeleine enjoyed restaurant meals and movies as well as travel, whether it be driving through the Pennsylvania countryside with her husband, or visiting her beloved relatives in West Virginia or Germany. During a visit to her son and daughter-in-law in Kuwait, she made many long-lasting friendships with Kuwaiti families.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Stanley A. Smalley; children, Marenea (Walter Hall) Roule, Norman (Lorie) Roule, Daria Kuriger, Trifin (Jeannie) Roule, and Jason Smalley; grandchildren, Ashleah (Nicholas) Martinez, Cora (Mike) Brna, Natasha (Ian Pomerantz) Roule, and Alexandra Roule; and her great-grandchildren, Noah Martinez, Emilia Martinez and Lucia Martinez.
She was predeceased by her parents; and siblings, Robert, Olga, Annie, Nellie, Norman, Sam, Paul, Frances and Dolly.
A private family funeral viewing will be held in the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home in Bentleyville, followed by interment in Horne Cemetery in Marianna.
